Strawberry ‘Quinault’
The Quinault strawberry is an everbearing as opposed to june-bearing strawberry like my Sequoia plant. It will continue to flower and produce fruit for as long as conditions are right. Supposedly, the fruit from a june-bearing plant will be larger and tastier than the fruit from an everbearing plant. In my experience so far, the Quinault has produced fruit that doesn’t look like your average grocery-store strawberry, but tastes great.
I found it at Home Depot for $8 in a 2-gallon sized pot. It was already bearing when I found it. I selected one that had not yet sent off shoots.
Care and Chores
I’ve got no clue yet, but I haven’t planted it in the ground yet either. I’m waiting for the broccoli to clear out, and pondering planting it in a planter on the front porch so that I can bring it indoors in the winter.
