About
I’m a 29 year old guy living in College Station, TX, which is right on the “border” so to speak between the coastal areas and the inland post-oak savanna that leads up to the rolling foothills of Texas’s “Hill Country.” This blog is a repository of the research I did the past two years when I was busy learning (through trial and error) how best to grow things in an unfamiliar environment: Clay Soil and hot, humid weather. I live in USDA zone 8b; my winters are typically similar to zone 8 and my summers are zone 9 to 10.
I’m originally from the fertile farmland outside of Chicago — a south, but more of a southwest-sider. I grew up in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Connecticut, and Oregon. Somehow, I ended up with all of the domestic skills and my sister ended up with none of them. I cook, clean, build things, and care for things. She has cats and a Tivo.
By day, I’m a computer guy and system administrator. I also have dogs and do canine rescue stuff. I blog because it’s the easiest way for me to keep track of things, and it’s easiest for me to keep my research online where it also benefits others. My blogging is somewhat seasonal depending on what’s happening in my life at the time.
